Padres Add Randy Vasquez to NLDS Roster as Buehler Hits Paternity List
The Padres added Randy Vasquez to their NLDS roster, according to www.fantasypros.com.
The move was reported by Ari Koslow, Padres Correspondent for www.fantasypros.com. Vasquez's addition is tied to Walker Buehler being placed on the paternity list.
The roster change applies to the NLDS, as confirmed by the source. The exact duration of Buehler's paternity list stay is not specified.
THE ROSTER SWAP EXPLAINED
The roster swap works like this: Vasquez was added to the Padres NLDS roster, and Walker Buehler was placed on the paternity list, according to www.fantasypros.com.
Ari Koslow, Padres Correspondent for www.fantasypros.com, reported the transaction.
The source states Vasquez will only be on the roster for a few days. That timing lines up directly with Buehler's paternity list placement.
The specific reason for Buehler's paternity list placement — such as the birth of a child — is not detailed in the source. That detail has not been confirmed.
What is clear is that the Padres made a short-term move, bringing Vasquez in as a fill-in while Buehler steps away. The source categorizes this strictly as a transaction, with no other roster changes mentioned.
Vasquez's stint is brief by design, per www.fantasypros.com, which limits his role for the remainder of the series.
SHORT-TERM ADDITION
Vasquez's roster stint is expected to last only a few days, according to www.fantasypros.com. The source frames the move strictly as a transaction, with no other roster changes mentioned.
The addition is specific to the NLDS, as reported by Ari Koslow, the Padres Correspondent for www.fantasypros.com. That means Vasquez's availability is tied directly to Buehler's absence, not to a longer-term role.
No performance statistics or career numbers for either Vasquez or Buehler appear in the source. Those details have not been confirmed.
What the source does confirm is the brevity of the arrangement. A few days on the roster, per www.fantasypros.com, keeps Vasquez's role limited for the remainder of the series.
FANTASY IMPACT
For fantasy baseball managers, the takeaway is straightforward: Vasquez is a short-term piece, not a season-changer. Per www.fantasypros.com, he will only be on the roster for a few days, which caps his usefulness in NLDS scoring formats.
That limited window means Vasquez carries minimal fantasy relevance for the remainder of the series. The source's fantasy impact note is explicit about the brevity, and no deeper statistical context is provided to suggest otherwise.
Any player or coach reactions are not in the source, so there is no confirmation of how Vasquez views the opportunity or how the team plans to deploy him beyond the transaction itself. The fantasy analysis comes entirely from www.fantasypros.com, not from anyone in the Padres clubhouse.
For managers in daily lineup leagues, the practical effect is narrow. Vasquez's roster spot exists to cover Buehler's absence, and with that absence expected to last only a few days, the fantasy ceiling is correspondingly low.
WHAT TO WATCH NEXT
The exact date of Buehler's return is not confirmed in the source, nor is the timeline for any subsequent roster moves. The Padres have not announced when he will rejoin the club, and the paternity list designation leaves that window open-ended.
What is clear, per www.fantasypros.com, is that Vasquez's stay is temporary. The source states he will only be on the roster for a few days, which aligns with the standard expectation that Buehler's absence will be brief. But the source does not specify a game or date for that return.
The NLDS continues, though no specific upcoming game dates are mentioned in the source. The roster stands as adjusted until the Padres make another move, and the source provides no further transactions or updates beyond the Vasquez addition and Buehler's paternity list placement.
For now, the practical takeaway is straightforward: Vasquez is a short-term fill-in, Buehler's return is implied but unconfirmed, and the Padres have not signaled any additional changes. Any further roster decisions will have to come from the team, and as of this report, none have been announced.
